The Story of Sushi reads a bit like a novel, with action, dialogue, and flashbacks, but the book is documentary nonfiction and the drama it depicts really happened. The characters in The Story of Sushi are all real people who appear in the book with their real names. The events in The Story of Sushi actually occurred, and I witnessed most of them myself and took copious notes at the time about exactly what people said and did, so that I could reconstruct the scenes accurately.
