A public speaker with extensive experience, Trevor Corson can captivate an audience of a thousand professionals attending a conference, several hundred college freshmen in a campus auditorium, or a group of executives in a private room at an elegant restaurant or club. His audiences laugh and learn, and leave with a newfound delight in the wondrous world of the seas, the passionate pursuit of knowledge, and an empowering sense that their own choices in life—whether it’s simply to enjoy better seafood or to become involved in marine conservation—can make a difference.

Trevor has lectured at some of America’s premier venues, including the National Press Club, the National Geographic Society in Washington D.C., and the American Museum of Natural History in New York, and has addressed audiences in a wide variety of corporate, conference, institutional, educational, and restaurant settings. Trevor offers a variety of presentations and can tailor his talk to your needs. He offers a humorous and informative general-interest talk based on his two books—and drawing on his former job as a commercial fisherman, his current work as the only Sushi Concierge in the United States, and his appearances as a judge on Iron Chef America—titled “Lobster Porn, Naked Sushi, and Saving the Seas.” In this talk Trevor shares with audiences his passion for marine science and fishing, the hilarious love life of lobsters, and the surprising secrets of sushi, all tied together with a useful and inspiring message for consumers about harvesting and enjoying our ocean resources responsibly. Trevor also gives educational presentations as “The Lobster Sex Guy,” in which he focusses on his first book, the worldwide pop-science bestseller The Secret Life of Lobsters. In addition, Trevor produces and hosts his unique Sushi Concierge dinners, banquets, and lectures for large and small groups, both public and private. Finally, Trevor also teaches and discusses the craft of writing and the growing need for effective ways to communicate science to non-scientists; Trevor has taught at Harvard University’s Nieman Conference, the Key West Literary Seminar, and the University of Memphis MFA program, the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School, as well as at a variety of colleges and high schools. TEACHING

When visiting a university, school, or research center, Trevor often combines a public speech with seminars—directed at students or professionals or both—to discuss approaches to communicating with the public through storytelling and ways to bridge the gap between the public and the work of scientific or other experts. He also discusses how the experience of living abroad and learning foreign languages led to his approach, shaping his perspective on the world in the process.
